The DDRA and Joe's Grill Chili Championship returns Saturday, March 26! Cook teams vie for the title of Best Chili in Town! Owner's Choice Award and other prizes too. Car show, vendors, music, and more. Interested teams can sign up at Joe's Grill or email info@buildupdarlington.org.
Tasting wristbands will be $5 that day, and the people choose their champion! Proceeds benefit Darlington Fire Department. Cash prizes to cook teams along with the Championship Belt!
We invite any restaurant, civic group, church or business to showcase your group at this event as a contestant. This would be a great opportunity to display your brand and distribute menus or other promotional materials.
"The DDRA saw this event as an opportunity for our businesses and town to support each other in a fun and safe way," says Lisa Bailey, executive director for the DDRA. "It is great to see our local business owners eating at one another's restaurants and shopping at each other's businesses. What makes Darlington great is our community and our people, and if we don't support what is in our town, we will lose that."
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. OUTSIDE with the public purchasing tasting wristbands to select the winners.
Cook team entry fee is $10. Car show entry fee is $5 per vehicle. There will be a first, second, and third place award for both.
The inaugural championship belt went to Joey Saleeby (people's choice), and Chris Gainey from Bill's Grill in Patrick took the Owners Choice Award. In 2021, Shenna Kelly took top honors.
Call Lisa at 843-992-1561 if you would like to donate a door prize to the event, and she will come by your business to pick it up.
