Darlington County Long-Term Recovery Group Needs Help. Formed in 2016 after the 2015 Historic Flood in South Carolina, The Darlington County Long-Term Recovery Group is an established organization. As we plan for the 2022 Hurricane / Tornado season and the COVID 19 Pandemic, we need your help! We are looking for 800-5,000 sq. ft. of donated warehouse or storage space in Darlington County, to store large truckloads of pre disaster and blue-sky items, shipped nationally from our donors for disaster recovery. Donations are free and used to protect families and individuals from the COVID 19 pandemic and repair homes in the community damage by natural disasters and severe storms. Our goal is to return the most vulnerable families and individuals to some form of normalcy. Items include shingles, flooring, cleaning supplies, personal items, furniture, bedding, masks, hand sanitizer, books, toys, diapers, baby wipes, mattresses etc. With your help we can close the GAP between Disaster and Recovery! Info: Carol Bishop, Project Director for the Darlington County Long-Term Recovery Group, P.O Box 218, Society Hill, SC 29593, email her at dcltrg@aol.com, or call her at C# 843-639-7650 or O# 843-332-0940.

Anonymous Ancestors, an installation by Susan Lenz, will be on display through Feb. 25 at Black Creek Arts Center, 116 W. College Ave., Hartsville. Each snapshot is a frozen moment on life's timeline. Letters and words clipped from vintage print material allow one's mind to wander, envisioning forgotten friends, past holidays, ancient occasions, former cars, and hilarious fashion trends. Yet, all the images are anonymous. The photos come from yard sales, auctions, and abandoned locations. Who are these people? Who really knows? They are distant aunts and uncles, cousins, grandparents, siblings, and in-laws. They are society's family tree, our collective wall of ancestors.
